We started the project
#memoriefărăură (memory without hate) willing to create an alternative to the virtual environment hate messages. This environment facilitates our access to information but gives us the impression of unlimited freedom of expression.
Most of the time, such hate messages build images without a correspondence in lived reality and sometimes bury in oblivion life stories and tragic events. Hence the need to filter the information disseminated online and create an alternative that offers us a different perspective on memory and history.
The #memoriefărăură (memory without hate) project helped us to discover between the lines what the Holocaust in Romania meant. It helped us understand the facts and actions that contributed to the Holocaust in Romania systematically, not only to specific fixed dates that we mark annually. It reminded us that the remembrance of events that changed lives, destinies, places, and people, exist beyond January 27 or October 9.
We would like the #memoriefărăură (memory without hate) project not to get lost in the amount of information available online but rather to represent a landmark to those curious to deepen the history of the Holocaust in Romania. Thus, we transformed the project into a digital platform that guides our steps towards understanding this historical episode and the role of remembrance.
